The one thing the COVID pandemic gave my PME placement

I recently read a newly published article by Rachel Farrell. It really highlighted to me the benefits that my PME had made because of COVID. Yes, I have written about the disruptions it has caused but I have not yet talked about the positives it has brought with it. Yes there are some!! Having read Farrell’s article I can honestly say that this was my experience of doing the PME during COVID. So much collaboration and team teaching that I am not sure I would have had the privilege of being part of it if it were not for the pandemic.

Would I have been able to share my knowledge of digital technologies? Would I have had the opportunity to team-teach and co-teach classes? Collaborate on tests, on exam preparation? Even the chance to keep participating in teaching life after my placement? I do not know if it would have been possible. I thank COVID for all this. It has allowed me to “shine” a little bit and show my mentor teachers what I am capable of under pressure. It has given me stronger relationships with my mentor teachers and increased our collaboration. Their mentoring of me has also increased and I have learned so much as well as developing my classroom management skills.

I am even more excited about the my future career as a teacher and what I can bring with me but most importantly learn from others! If you want to have a read of the article you can download it on the link below.
