Technology and the Internet in teaching and in the wider world

Having completed all your TM sessions, consider the use of technology and the Internet in teaching and in the wider world. What impact will it have on your practice? What impact do you think it will have on your future students?

Technology is the way forward now. This is even more evident now with the current COVID-19 pandemic. never before was learning from home so important. I think this pandemic has shown how hard and difficult it is for students and ultimately teachers to disseminate information and engage students online.

In effect, we are GSTs have an advantage. We have been learning through online methods using multiple technologies since we started in Autumn 2019. We are now used to this way of learning and, in my case, revel in it. I have also had the opportunity to continue to teach online through Google Classroom. My placement continued after the lockdown and it has taught me so much about learning, engagement and inclusion for all types of students.

This is now the new norm. Future students will have a lot more online engagement with teachers. Technology will have to keep up! Students will be able to learn from anywhere. It will prepare them for the world better than any student has before.

For me, learning and connecting mostly online, has encouraged me to be more reflective and think about what I am teaching and learning. There are so many materials out there, it is important to choose the right one that helps students.

The future is bright, the future is new, the future is here.

This video was particularly helpful to me when researching technology in the classroom. The link is below;
